Some good primate-news from NaturZoo Rheine :
3 Lion-tailed macaues have been born during the last few months ( end of oct. 2012, beginning of Jan. and in March ). There are now 21 Lion-tailed macaques ( Wanderoo's ) at Rheine and this must be one of the largest groups in Europe !
Also 1 young born in March by one of Rheine's specialities, the Geladas http://www.zoochat.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif/bmi_orig_img/biggrin.gif

Recent breeding-results from Rheine :
a litter of Caucasian Golden Jackals have been born ( prop. 6 young ! )
Geladas at least one young, the toal population at this zoo contains now 56 (!) animals in 2 groups.
Village weavers, a while ago a second colony was set-up, this one is now also breeding succesfully.

Sloth bear born to FRANZ (born at Leipzig Zoo in 2005) and DEVI (born at Berlin Zoo in 2008) - first successful captive breeding in Rheine.

4 Golden jackals born at Rheine .

15 Geladas have left the zoo : a group of 7 ( 1 male, 3 females and their 3 offsprings ) were send to Rotterdam Zoo and another 8 to (an) other European zoo(s).
Of the 76 Geladas Rheine had now "only" 61 are left - still the largest population in captivity world-wide.
