Last year the Neunkircher Zoo recieved a pair of Ryuku green long-tailed lizards which were bred by a privat breeder. The animals are doing very well and in December 2014 2 eggs were discovered in the enclosure. In the incubater it took 41 and 42 days at a temperature of 28 deg. Celcius to hatch. They measured 2,5 centimeter and weighted half a gramm and are the first German Zoo-breeding of the species.
As last young of the year 2015 2 Common gundis were born on Dec. 20. With these 2 the total number of Common gundis born during 2015 at Neunkirchen is 10.
A new enclosure for the Striped hyena has opened. At the moment only a single female lives in the enclosure but soon a male from Belfast is expected to arrive.
A first German keeping at Neunkircher Zoo - 2 males Philippine dwarf porcupines arrived from Prague Zoo, where they were born. Hopefully (a) female(s) can be added at a later date .
