Less than two weeks ago the zoo opened a new exhibit for Przewalski's wild horses in the Asian zone, although the press release does not mention if the horses are part of a brand new habitat or are simply replacing animals in an old enclosure:
Very interesting. The only place I could imagine it being is the "Asian Grasslands" which at the time of my visit housed one nilgai and some birds. It is likely the lone nilgai has died and the przewalski horses were a suitable replacement.
18 large trees (sycamore, elm, cottonwood) were planted this week in the two main african savanna yards for shade. Animals are temporarily off exhibit, but should have come out again today (Saturday Dec 10) if all went well.
