West Midland Safari and Leisure Park New animals

I thought one of the Monkeys had Simian Herpes and thats why they were no longer there?

I believe that was reason they left.

We went on Monday (part of our zoo tour :D )

There was a lot of building work going on in the Asian drive through in the bottom section.

They had dug a huge square pit and then trenches down and a long side the road (? possibly for fence?) all on the right hand side. We thought maybe a new very big waterhole but there is already one on the left hand side!

Maybe an enclosure of some sort will post pic later of how many workmen and diggers there were amongst the animals!!

Might be able to tell what they are doing from the pictures, I really intrigued by the trench along the side of the road.

I would like to see Indian Rhino's exhibited in a Safari park instead of white rhino's.

Cannot tell much from the picture other than they may be building some type of structure from the machinery they are using.

I think they'll just be kept as exhibit animals, they couldn't really have a breeding pair in a cage that size.
Also I'd imagine the building work is probably for a new shed by the look of it.

I went to WMSP today and this is the front cover of the latest guide map. Work is still ongoing in the Asian reserve but it looks like the rhinos will be in place sometime this year.

With the white lion and tiger breeding, who's taking bets they will actually put armour on the rhinos.

Good to see it confirmed though. :)

Don't know when but Wmsp have had their first gemsbok birth. Look on ISIS.

Can anyone confirm when? Also are the gemsbok still in the small paddock or have they moved into a reserve?

has anyone seen the TV add for the Rhinos, rediculous!
i will try and find a link to it

Went yesterday and saw the gemsbok baby. They are still in that little paddock at the top of I think the eurasian reserve (one with pere davids deer, Banteng and Nilgai). I also managed to see the 2 new Indian Rhinos grazing who i expected to just be lying in the mud like they've been when i've seen them at other zoos.

i took a few but on a mate's digital camera and they weren't really of any decent quality. I can try and get them off him but i wouldn't expect more than probably two grey blobs on grass :D
