Concept designs for a new aquarium in New York City:

Reimagining the Humble Aquarium | ODS

Clearly very different in concept to classic aquariums. I wonder if the designer has thought how the aquariums will be cleaned?

It looks as if the proposal is for the Brooklyn waterfront. This should not be confused with the New York Aquarium, which is located at Cony Island and is undergoing a massive rebuild and expansion at this time as well.

Pah, as if Piero Lissoni and the "Arch Out Loud" stakeholders can be bothered with menial aspects such as "practicability", "usability", "efficiency" or "animal welfare"...;)

:D:):D

(really love that kind of irony. Wait for your quotes about the "naturalistic" new ape house in Stuttgart)

These Arch Out Loud design competitions have no real client. They are mere theoretical exercises for architects to gain some notoriety. And as such, they invariably produce hyper-conceptual schemes that make little real world sense.

Here is the competition

There were a couple of aquarium architects on the jury
