Edinburgh Zoo New Arrivals in 2010

Pesonnally I would have waited until something had arrived instead apart from creating what at the moment is a point less thread!
 
Totally agree with you, Zoogiraffe, on that one.

I think Glasgowanimal wants the "thrill" of starting a thread -see also "Births in 2010".

Lots of snow and ice causing the zoo to be closed to the public and the keepers practicing for "Zoo Keeping on Ice"?

Well they have been doing that at Blackbrook as well but they haven`t closed the zoo,but then the zoo is not as steep as Edinburgh,but I think it`s probably as cold!!

1st new arrival of the year, a female Lady Ross's touraco has arrived to be paired with one of the males.
 
does anyone know whether Madrid are still sending gaur at some point? Similarly, did the musk oxen ever leave liberec zoo for HWP via the Netherlands? Whats the situation with bluetongue restrictions now?
 
thanks for that Glasgow Animal was at the zoo on sunday and there was a bit of work going on in the pod thats beside the boardroom can never get which pod number this is. Looking forward to seeing the new arrivals!!!!

They are coming from Safari Beekes Bergen and there are 5 males and 6 females. Edinburgh have 6 males and 5 females so it will be a 50/50 split once they are integrated.
 
The group consists of 5 males

Paul 16,Claus16,Feek 16,Rene 16,Bram 23

and 6 females

Edith 13 ,Eva 28,Heleen 18, Lianne 20,Sophie 28 and Pearl 40.
 
They arrived yesterday and as of Yesterday Budongo Trail shall be closed through unitl Sunday 21st to allow them to settle in. From there it will pretty much be on a day by day basis. Intigration could go very smoothly, it might not! Just have to wait and see, but the keepers have several plans and strategies in place. Watch this space!
