Chester Zoo New baby at Chester Zoo.

Today we visited Chester for the first time this summer.
There was a sign just inside the entrance about a 'new arrival', this turned out to be a baby elephant! I didnt see anything about this when I checked zoochat before we left this morning so is the birth unexpected? We only got to see the baby briefly just as we had to leave so I didnt catch any details. Can someone tell me more about it?

As far as I know this is the birth of Nayan who was born a few weeks ago to mum Sithami and dad Upali. Thi one of the other elephants is pregnant but may be a while before she will give birth.

Unless something really unexpected has happened, I'm 99% certain the signs are indeed about Nayan as Lee has explained.
