I thought that members of this site may like to know that Ben Mee, the new owner of Dartmoor Zoo, has written a book about the trials of buying, repairing and re-opening the zoo. It's called 'We Bought A Zoo' and I think has only just been published this month. It looks like a very good read!
The book accompanies the TV series 'Ben's Zoo' and so a lot of the content will probably be familiar to you all; however, whilst I expect the TV producers wanted to produce an entertaining show, I think that Ben is using his book to tell the story exactly how he wants to. For example, the incident when that tiger woke up when supposedly under anesthetic is mentioned, and Ben goes into a bit more detail about why it happened and what has been done to prevent it happening again. I hope that this book will help to silence some of his critics.
