Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover New developments

This is odd---when I visited Hannover a few years ago, they had a big mixed species "Australian Outback " exhibit "themed" with the usual windmill, abandoned vehicles and other such crap that is used around the world to represent the fantasy of a rustic Australian countryside. Now it just looks like they've tripled the amount of crap.....seems like a waste.

great apes, elephants, Kangaroos

Everything you've written in this thread about the exhibits for the great apes at Hannover is correct :( .

The elephants Farina and Califa are pregnant. Califa was born 2. Februar 2003 and Farina 20.03.2003. They are much too young.

The Outback has cost 1 480 000 €: red sand, grey sand, red sand, no grass!!! Only the Benett-Kangaroos can go into the forest.

I`m very disappointed.

Just to add an interesting birth; a Hartebeest has born at Hannover Zoo :) great news if you ask me, brings the European Zoo population to 2.5.1.1 :)

It's meant as sort of joke, and it's a good one! And for education purposes it doesn't matter a bit, even when you put up a ten meter high billboard, proclaiming penguins do not live in nature that far north, most visitors will manage to miss that sign;)
