Highland Wildlife Park New enclosure for Polar Bear

A 4-acre enclosure is a fantastic size for a polar bear, and I can't wait until "kiang" visits in the fall and uploads tons of photos!

Next visit due is 3rd week in August, so i think i will be there before Mercedes, but there will be plenty of pictures of an empty incomplete polar bear enclosure thats for sure

As you can probably tell i never made it to the park, but i am aiming for the October holidays, and Mercedes should be there by then.

yes, if I remember correctly then plan to bring at least a breeding pair in. They may also bring them in before mercedes has gone.

I'm guessing the part opposite the viewing platform with the black steel around the top is maybe part of the house?

Then we'd all be hoping it has a battery back-up I think it's a bit of a minimal way to keep her in though, especially that bit by the pool. I guess there'll be a bigger one going in front of it though.

This looks like a fantastic home for Polar bears and I really hope they do continue with the species, it shows the anti zoo campaigners a poalr bear exhibit that works!

Indeed. Bet they'll still pace just before feeding though, all of which will be caught on cam to show "conclusive evidence" that polar bears can't be kept in captivity lol

Mercedes due to leave Edınburgh Zoo shortly after Sunday 18th October to move up to HWP (that ıs the last day she ıs on publıc show at the Zoo) wıth the CEO Davıd Wındmıll hopıng she wıll be on vıew to the publıc at HWP by the end of October
