The New England Aquarium didn't have a news thread so here's one.
A renovated Giant Ocean Tank will be completed by 2013, as part of the $42 million overhaul of the entire aquarium. The animals from the Giant Ocean Tank will be in the Penguin exhibit, and the Penguins will be in an Animal Care Center in Quincy. It will start in September.
The New Aquarium Experience
In May, a male Northern Fur Seal pup was rescued in California and brought to New England. Since then, he has been named Leu, and is making strides each day.:)

Also, the California Sea Lions and Leu the orphan Northern Fur Seal are now regularly on exhibit.
A 21 pound American Lobster has been added to the aquarium's collection. He'll eventually find a home in the Gulf of Maine exhibit.

The African and Rockhopper Penguins have moved to an offsite faculty. I plan on visiting this faculty next year, with possible trips to both Zoo New England faculties.

Apparantely, the New Balance Foundation Marine Mammal Center has a new outdoor exhibit for the pinnepids, as this is on the aquarium's website:
"Watch the Aquarium’s sleekest stars as they rocket through their new outdoor exhibit! "
Can anyone confirm if this outdoor exhibit is true? If so, what is it like?

New as in 2009 new. There are no new pools. It's the same exhibit which opened in 2009.
