New Gallery Request Thread 2022

I'm researching each state to find out a list of zoological facilities. Based on my research as well as what I think qualifies as a facility that can be added on this site, there are several places that may warrant being added to the database and map for reference. All are open to the public, though some may need to be booked via tour. Starting first with New York state. I linked to each facilities website when applicable, if more info is needed:

Holtsville Wildlife & Ecology Center (aka Brookhaven Wildlife Center) – Holtsville, NY

Quogue Wildlife Refuge – Quogue, NY

White Post Farms – Melville, NY

Adirondack Wildlife Refuge - Wilmington, NY - I've been here and have photos

Ashville Exotics – Greenwich, NY

Bailiwick Animal Park – Catskill, NY

Jungle Experience Zoo – Granville, NY

Little Ray’s Nature Center – Syracuse, NY

Noah’s Park Retreat – Goshen, NY

The Wild Center – Tupper Lake, NY

Wolf Mountain Nature Center – Smyrna, NY

Hidden Valley Animal Adventure – Varysburg, NY

Wild Wings – Honeoye Falls, NY

I also noticed on the satellite map that Trevor Zoo in Millbrook, New York is missing.

What's the point in adding a bunch of places no one has been to yet? There are hundreds of places that don't have galleries yet, it would clog up the lists to add them all.

For reference. I was told on another thread not to make a new list for zoological facilities and instead ask for them to be added to the map because that's where they are supposed to go.

At the moment, there are three components to our zoo database:
  1. the map (partially broken because of changes to Google's maps api)
  2. the discussion thread prefix
  3. the gallery category
While it would be nice to add new facilities to the map - it's not really a high priority at this point (not until I get a chance to fix the map display), and we really don't want to be adding new thread prefixes or gallery categories that are going to sit empty or unused.

So if you have visited these facilities or have things to discuss about them - or if you have photos to upload for these facilties - then we will add them. But otherwise, we'll leave them off the list for now.

I'll revisit this as part of the site redesign - I'd like to do more with the zoo database and maps and it may be worth me separating out the database and maps from the discussion and galleries so we don't have an issue with unused prefixes and galleries.

Ah ok, thank you for letting me know. I guess a thread in the USA section with a list of zoos by state could be a temporary solution, I think Tino said he will be working on one.

The long list with NY facilities can be ignored, but can the two Florida facilities be added?

Cox Science Center & Aquarium - West Palm Beach, FL

Wellington Conservation Center - Wellington, FL

I already uploaded photos for the aquarium and will upload for the conservation center soon.

I added Adirondack Wildlife Refuge since you have photos for it.
