New Gallery Request Thread 2022

Could we add the following to the Media galleries?

United States:
UAF Museum of the North
Maxine and Jesse Whitney Museum
Large Animal Research Station
Pratt Museum and Park
Alaska Public Lands Visitor Centers

Canada:
Yukon Wildlife Preserve
Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre
Kluane Museum of History
Caribou Crossing Trading Post

Thank you.

Note: Alaska has several very impressive visitor centers operated by the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, and the National Park Service. Rather than request a gallery for each (at least nine off the top of my head) perhaps a single gallery where the visitor center at which the photographed display is located can be referenced in the photo’s title. For example,

Moose - USFS Begich-Bogs Visitor Center, Chugach NF

Lynx & Hare - NPS Visitor Center, Denali National Park

etc, etc..of course such a title scheme wouldn’t be required…but shown here as an example of how I might title my own contributions to distinguish between the centers (which from their layouts and display themes seem to be related and fairly consistent between each other).

@jobalba Good Morning from Alaska. I hadn’t heard back or noticed if these gallery requests have been approved or denied. I start my road trip through Alaska and the Yukon tomorrow and was hoping the pages would be up. Two of the facilities are Zoo-like institutions (Yukon Wildlife Preserve is analogous to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and the Large Animal Research Center is kind of a Reindeer Farm/Muskox Farm thing with Wood Bison thrown in) and the others are natural history museums. If you have any questions as to the merit of any of the facilities requested please let me know.

thank you.

It's in the name - The Preserve at Animal Adventure. It's not even at a separate location.

It's adjacent from the property and is acting like its own separate thing. Different website, different social media, I would say it's a different facility.

Also if you getting annoyed by the name, my answer to you is San Diego Zoo Safari Park

It's not adjacent. It's across the little street, where their overflow parking area is/was. The different social media is to hype it up, like some places do for major new exhibits.

Your comparison doesn't make sense, it's not "The Safari Park at San Diego Zoo".

OK that comparison doesn't make sense, I should have used ABQ Bugnarium and Aquarium. Both located in the same park but are separated as different facilities.

Also I don't think a drive-through safari is a major new exhibit, I see them as two different facilities

It's a new area of the zoo. That's all. Keystone Safari and Wild Animal Park both have safari areas - both of which are further away even, at a couple of doors down - that are part of the named facility. Many of these places have separate add-on fees to do the safari part. Animal Adventure Park is all about PR, remember April? Acting like it's this new place is all PR. Is there really that much news about it that it needs it's own distinction? There's only 7 pages of photos, all taken by myself btw.

@TinoPup @Smaggledagle - I have looked at the websites for this facility, and while I get your arguments @TinoPup - in this case I'm going to go with having this as a separate facility, mostly because it is fundamentally different to Animal Adventure.

Animal Adventure is a walk through zoo, while The Preserve is a drive-through facility. They have their own entrances and payment to enter is separate. I think it's clear that people may visit each facility independently - which to me fairly clearly distinguishes them from each other, unlike a facility which is intended to be visited at the same time and included in the entrance cost.

There are some other facilities in other countries where we've separated things at the same location which have separate entrances and fees, so there is precedent here.

@jobalba - please proceed with creating a separate facility for The Preserve at Animal Adventure.

Should all facilities like that be separated then, because there are several.
