A number of collections are receiving okapi this year including, as I understand:

Safari Beekse Bergen

Dublin Zoo

Wrocław Zoo

Bioparc de Doué la Fontaine

They join the exisiting holders in Europe:

Antwerp
Dvůr Králové
Copenhagen
Beauval
Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Wuppertal
Blijdorp
Lisbon
Basel
Bristol (off show), Chester, Marwell, London

Does anyone know of any other plans for okapi from other zoos?

Madrid is another contestant, maybe not this year, Barcelona and Valencia wouldn´t say no and there are other Iberian Zoos that might be interested.

Rotterdam will stop keeping Okapis for some time. The current Okapi enclosure will become a lion enclosure and the Okapis will move more to the center of the zoo. When their new enclosure is ready Blijdorp will start keeping Okapis again.

I wouldn't expect any more new collections for a few years after, the current new holders get animals. But I do think its possible for 1 of the current holders to go out of Okapi.

Dvur Kralove was kicked out of the EAZA and is going to be forced into giving up keeping okapis. The adult breeding brace was already sent to Frankfurt and Basel, only 1,1 young ones (1,0 born 2008 and 0,1 born 2011) remain.

Dvur Kralove has been asked by EAZA to send an application for membership. The director seems to be undecided if he should do it or not. The two remainging okapis are owned by Dvur. The participation in EEP or at least some sort of cooperation/breeding loan will be deciding if those 2 young okapis will get any breeding oportunity.

Prague zoo has an okapi and bonobo exhibit near the main entrance in their masterplan, but not sooner then in 10 years.

D.K. chose to leave before that ever happened. Besides the Dvur born animals are both owned by Dvur. In my opinion EAZA would do well to bring back D.K. into the fore of EAZA as soon as possible as we cannot afford to have one of the most important collections of African hoofstock and other wildlife go to waste.
