San Diego Zoo New Map!

Well, I'll be there in a few days and I'll find out. I was there in 2007, and the Francoi's Langurs weren't even by the orangs, or they weren't on exhibit that day. Wonder why they replaced the guenons with colobus? Are these the same ones from Gorilla Tropics?

I don't see a difference OL

The map that was originally posted at the beginning of the topic look like this: Welcome to the San Diego Zoo Visitor Information

The new one is more animated with vector animals and stuff.

I know colobus monkeys are now with the pygmy hippos. I don't know about the Wolf's Guenons being near the Orangs though, I didn't get to check.

And check out this old relic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rooney...3302755456/in/set-72157614321026118/lightbox/

No dude, that was not the original map of this thread, this thread was posted the day the new "animated" map was released.

And I think you forgot the link.

Oh my bad, there's another topic in the SDZ category with the same words. I thought this was the same one, thanks for clarifying.

Well, for anyone who is used to the old names of exhibits, this map is confusing.
There were volunteers all around the zoo to help visitors with the maps, and even they weren't exactly sure where everything was now that the names are changed!
I saw no langurs on my visit. There are colobus in monkey trails although I didn't see them so I don't know which species, probably Angolan Colobus.

I really like the map, it's just fun to look at. The colors of the section and the animals (as everyone else says) rather than those small icons make the zoo seem so much more amazing and magical than it actually is (San Diego Zoo still has those awful grotto exhibits).

I also like how they changed the Safari Park map to match with this one. It looks better with all of the Safari Park's different animals (like the kudu, the bald eagle and the African Plains animals) and makes you think "Wow! I wanna go there!"

The only flaws are the fact that because the trees and some animals on the map block the paths, you can't really see where some of the trails go. Particularly the Lost Forest aviary paths require a closer look to see where they pass through and end up. Also, some exhibits on the map should be more detailed, but that might not be possible. :)

Urban Jungle doesn't sound like that bad of a name to me. But Africa Rocks should be changed to African Cliffs or something like that... Asian Passage needs to change, too. I don't know to what, but it just doesn't have the ring (not really a "ring," more like half a ring) that Elephant Odyssey has. (I was going to originally say Polar Rim, but that doesn't have a ring either. :p)

I found the zoo's map maker website and noticed that they have an updated version of the map (with the new outback). On it I noticed that the Kiwi trail with Kiwi house is still there and also a Tasmanian Devil in the Outback section.

I'm hoping that this mean that the Kiwi trail will once again open.

i am afraid there is no longer an entrance to the kiwi trail from the new outback exhibit. The trail is still closed where it enters from Park Way (by big cat trail). I heard they are going to incorporate that portion of the trail into the new Africa Rocks area.

I did notice that the entrance by the outback was gone, but I was hoping they would still open it from the bottom. I wonder how they will incorporate the kiwi trail into Africa Rocks.
