Queensland Museum New ‘Monkeys’ Exhibition

A temporary exhibit, direct from National Musuems Scotland, will be exhibiting 60 taxidermed primate species at the Queensland Museum, all of which originate from captivity.
It would be a great opportunity to see some primate species that the Australian/NZ zoo enthusiast would never dream of seeing at our zoos! (They mention mouse lemurs!)

Presumably not all from Australian region as it seems to feature some species (e.g. Hamlyn's monkey) which I doubt have ever been exhibited there. It would be interesting to know where all the specimens came from but I guess they don't provide that information?

E.g. the orangutan looks very like 'Karta' who died at Adelaide Zoo quite recently...?

I doubt any of them are from this part of the world - the exhibition comes from the UK.

I should have read the first post properly, I missed 'direct from Museums Scotland'. That raises an interesting possibility- is the Gorilla the famous 'Jambo' from Jersey?- I believe he ended up taxidermied by 'Museums Scotland' though he has never(?) to my knowledge anyway, been on show there. And the orangutan may well be one of the Sumatran females (it is a Sumatran by the looks) 'Minnie' or 'Mary' from Edinburgh Zoo 1930/40's era.

All the specimens are of recent age and have been mounted specifically for the exhibition. The gorilla is Bobby of Rome/Bristol/London (Bobby: the gorilla on the wrong side of the law).
 
Thanks for that! Very interesting. I saw Bobby(Bongo) in all three Zoos they mention. I'm still trying to work out the provenance of the Orangutan. Any leads with that?
 
Re the Orangutan. I know of no Sumatran female that died in recent years in the UK apart from Gina at Jersey and it is very unlike her in appearance, so I think maybe it came from a European Zoo ? It does look similar to the female 'Anne' ex. Bristol Zoo who died at Santillana in Spain but there could be other European contenders also, like her similar-looking daughter Julitta ex Jersey who died fairly recently in Amneville,France.

Re the Drill- I believe Edinburgh lost an adult male Drill just a year or so back so maybe this is him in here...
