Orangutan Hsiao-Lan has given birth to her first baby, a female who was born in recent days... father is Tuan. Mother and daughter said to be doing well so far :)

Hi all
Excellent News, Hsiao lan has given birth to a gorgeous baby girl, as you are aware many of our rescued primates have not had the benefit of being raised by their own mothers and as such they sometimes do not make the best mums themselves. Unfortunately this has been the case with regards to Hsaio lan, despite several attempts to unite mum & daughter, Hsaio lan is not interested. However, we have been incredibly lucky and fortunate. Hsaio Quai could see what was happening and has stepped in to take care of the baby. Jin is still feeding from mum, so milk does not seem to be a problem at the moment, but we are keeping a very close eye on everything.

No problem, just wanted to make sure! At least they haven't got to hand raise another one. Orangutans are such lovely creatures (bar Amy haha)

Aaah - I've got a soft spot for Amy! I'm sure she thinks she's human and can't understand why they've put her in an enclosure with lots of orangutans;)
 
They should get her a mirror ;) she'd probably destroy it within seconds saying that...
