Please list any requests for new photo galleries you would like created for zoos not yet featured on this site.

If you happen to know the website / Facebook page / Twitter id for the zoo, that information would be useful for me too, but a name is good enough to start with.

After waiting now for a long time on some galleries, I just want to ask: Is there any way, that users can help with adding galleries? Because I am sure, there are more like me, who would gladly help out the forums :)

Unfortunately, due to the way the system currently works - it requires quite a few steps to add a new gallery to the forums.

Since we have a large backlog of requests, I have been working to prepare the system for adding all the new requests.

I have actually employed someone to help me keep on top of these things - after some time spent training them on how the system works, they have been working full time on the gallery request backlog for the past few weeks.

We already have data for 174 new zoos which are almost ready to come online, plus 206 new zoo webcams, and they are currently in the process of checking through the data of the 969 zoos already in the system and making sure it is up to date.

Once we have caught up with the backlog, it will be their responsibility to keep on top of these requests so that new galleries are added as soon as possible and we don't get caught with a backlog again.

I'm hoping to get those new galleries online in the next couple of days.
 
It is great that the Baltic States have now been added (i.e. Lithuania and Estonia, Latvia alone was there for some reason until now) as I was there in May. Still the zoos themselves need be added, all there is now is 'Wildlife' and 'Other' galleries. What needs to be added:

Lithuanian Sea Museum

What furthermore needs to be done is to 'clean up' the Riga Zoo gallery (Lativa) for while Estonia and Lithuania were missing, that gallery was used, let me dare to say, as a duming ground for all pictures that had been taking in the Baltic.

I'll also start cleaning up the existing galleries and moving mis-filed photos into the correct zoo gallery.
 
Would it be possible to relocate my already uploaded pictures of Tallinn and Kaunas zoo to the adequate category (Estonia/Lithuania)? Thank you.
 
@ Sim Sandwell Valley RSPB Reserve is not an animal collection,its an area of land owned by the RSPB and protected for use by native wildlife!!
 
@Sim: Many of us ZooChatters are appreciative of the zoos and aquariums that have been added to the galleries, and having over 1,100 in the system is quite an achievement. Thank you for the additions!

A few additional comments/questions:

- Will the thousands of deleted photos ever be added back into the galleries? Could there be a possibility of the best ones being added back in? Or maybe all of them could be added and then each ZooChatter could be given the option of self-deletion?
- Is there still a one-year time limit for photos before they might possibly be deleted?
- I noticed 3 minor changes needed for names in the United States gallery:
Sea World San Diego should be SeaWorld San Diego
Miami Metrozoo should be Zoo Miami
San Diego Wild Animal Park should be San Diego Zoo Safari Park

Unfortunately I'm not sure this is possible any more. The backup copy of the database where all the old entries were stored was on a hard drive which crashed a few months back, and I'm not sure I have another copy. I haven't had a chance to look yet.

I might be able to restore the data from a very old backup I still have, but that was using a system I no longer use and would require me to set up a new computer just to try and restore it (I could probably do this on an old laptop - should have one available in a few weeks).

The photos that were deleted were only those which never got any feedback or comments from other users and very few views. The "best" photos (those with comments or lots of views) were not deleted.

I'll have to see whether I can resurrect the old data from somewhere, then we can work out what to do with them.

No time limit. No photos have been purged for quite a long time now - the current disk usage is not a problem on the server and so I decided to just monitor things for now.
