Exciting news! We now have three new pygmy marmosets at Wellington Zoo!

This wee family of mum and her two sons has come all the way from Newquay Zoo in England and we are very excited about their arrival. They will be in quarantine for a month and then will be on display in a new enclosure within the zoo.

Our existing marmosets, Macchu, Picchu and their baby, will stay in Zoo Mojo.

The NZ population of these guys is certainly expanding quickly.

I wonder where this new exhibit will be located? Do these monkeys require a fully enclosed, heated enclosure (as they currently do at Wellington), or could something a bit more open work?

Hi Zooboy
The existing one in Wellington Zoo is a mixture. there is an indoor, fully enclosed heated area. There is also the main outdoor part which has a fine mesh roof

that's cool, six at Wellington and currently two at Auckland.

I don't understand the last bit of the quote, i.e. "Our existing marmosets, Macchu, Picchu and their baby, will stay in Zoo Mojo": what is Zoo Mojo?

Hi Chlidonias
Mojo is the cafe. The Pygmy Marmoset enclosure is the one that used to have Meerkats in it

ah thanks. I know exactly where that is now. (Haven't been up to the zoo for a while though :))
