New shrew

What language is sengi? And what does it actually mean? It might just be the local word for rat or squirrel...or even elephant:)

Just to muddy the waters further (which is hardly possible ) Jonathon Kingdon only uses the name sengi for the smaller species (such as the small-eared elephant shrew), rather than their bigger relatives like this new one.
Maybe we should stick to the Latin and Greek :D

sengi is a Bantu name (Bantu of course is a pretty broad term), but I don't know what it actually means.

Slightly off topic but also a new discovery...really made me laugh
DO NOT do this if you are offended by bad language

Google: daily mash giant rat
