What language is sengi? And what does it actually mean? It might just be the local word for rat or squirrel...or even elephant

Just to muddy the waters further (which is hardly possible ) Jonathon Kingdon only uses the name sengi for the smaller species (such as the small-eared elephant shrew), rather than their bigger relatives like this new one.
Maybe we should stick to the Latin and Greek

sengi is a Bantu name (Bantu of course is a pretty broad term), but I don't know what it actually means.
