Reports from todays newspaper about a new species of Titi monkey (Callicebus caquetensis) being found in the Colombian jungle, it says it has grayish-brown hair but does not have the white bar on it's forehead as many other species of callicebus do.

They say 13 groups have been found with over all numbers less than 250 and is critically endangered :(

Interesting. I assume a common name has not been given to the species yet?
There have been many species of titi discovered, but very little is known about many of them.

I am not sure about any commom name as I have only seen the news paper report.

I believe the was an a orange coloured species found a couple of years ago which looks like an orange fuzz ball, the man who discovered it put the naming rights up on the net for sale which was won by an American casino, the money went towards making the area where they live into an animal reserve to protect them

Yeah, I remember that, the Golden Palace Titi Monkey. I remember there was a whole website about it with photos and even audio of the monkeys.

Just did an internet search, it's common name appears to be "Bushy Bearded" Titi

I hope a similar conservation programme for this highly endangered titi species can be instated - as has been done for the excellent S. leucopus programme in Colombia.
