As seen in the zoo's ten-year plan, details for the proposed new tropical house at Bristol on the site of 'Zona Brazil' can be found on RH architects site.
'Bristol Zoo Gardens Tropical House
The strategy provides a new tropical enclosure which will, in time, interrupt an undercover route around the zoo. The climate controlled environment recreates part of the South American rainforest with authentic flora and fauna. The central feature is a waterfall experience, which scenically borrows from the existing external lake to make the enclosed, tempered space feel larger. Using ETFE technology we are able to create an organic “roofscape”, helping passive environmental control and varying the space for animals, plants and visitors.'
