Paignton Zoo New TV series filmed at Paignton

I've just noticed that there's a new TV series starting at 9pm on Animal Planet on Friday 9 January. Called 'Creatures Like Us', it "promises to be a cross between Creature Comforts and Animal Magic", and features Paignton's animals (a dormouse and gorilla, Damisi, are mentioned) with voices provided by comedians. Sounds a bit bizarre but it has to be better than the repetitive Konnie Huq, surely? ;)

Ooh, gotta watch this! Yeah, Konnie Huq's voice is annoyingly repetitive.

just a question...is there anyone on the English forum who DOES like Konnie Huq? Everyone seems to dislike her as a presenter.

I dislike her as a presenter too, she lacks the whole personaility that kate humble and ben fogle have, sounds a good series though.

I don't quite argee with that, i would like to see less of them.

Konnie Huq has a annoying voice, plus in the later series they are givining her more air time on the program. And well we didn't sit down to watch the program because of her!

I think we will have to agree to disagree there, but i agree with konnie

its unusual for animal planet to do a zoo programme, they are more into wild animals

it seems channel 5 have stopped making animal programmes.

One of the carnivore keepers at longleat told me that Ben Fogle often mistook lions for tigers and vice versa. I had a rather tainted view of him after that!

I suppose to be fair to her, in the Colchester series it was the fact that she was totally superfluous that I objected to. Zoo fans want to see animals, not presenters who tell us what we are going to see, then what we are seeing and then what we have seen. But I didn't like her rather simpering, 'talking to children' attitude either.

maybe she would have been better on roar...

and redpanda, haha i never knew that, that is pretty sad!

I personally can't stand Ben Fogle. He asks inane questions and doesn't listen to the keepers when they speak to him. And example from the programme this week.....
Keeper " the pancake tortoise hides in rock crevices to escape being eaten by predators like coyote and mongoose"
Fogle "what kind of animals would try to eat these tortoises then?"
It doesnt surprse me he can't tell the difference between lions and tigers as he clearly is not interested in most of the stuff he is being told.

since when do coyotes eat pancake tortoises?

I watched 'Creatures Like Us' last night and enjoyed it. I chuckled over Damisi the gorilla being crate trained, and found the scenes with Jasper the bison quite touching, having watched him running with the keeper in real life. Next week - Cuban crocs and baboons.

Yeah, I enjoyed it too. Found Morris' nightmares about the scales amusing, as well as Damisi's text to his keeper.
