New Zooguidebooks

Howletts and Port Lympne both released 2017 guides over February half term. The PL guide has a Giraffe cover and Howletts, a Black Rhino with calf
 
I like old classic zoo guides like those of Artis and London that I have seen. Large volumes with photographs and a proper spine - practically zoology books in themselves.
 
I got one at Salzburg Zoo recently, though it is only available in German. Sadly it has no general information about the zoo or the exhibits themselves. It only contains species descriptions of the resident animals (one per page).

Tiergarten Schonbrunn (Vienna) did not have a guide book per se, but did have a nice book on the zoo itself, which of course includes several animal and exhibit descriptions. I purchased the Chester Zoo Guidebook the other day on my way out of the zoo and was massively disappointed with it when I got home. It's just so basic and childish. Theres no real information about the actual animals just random facts about how much food the zoo gets through and random facts like that. Least most other Zoos at least give a factfile about the animals housed at their zoo.

Chester is the best zoo in the country by a mile but their signage, map and guidebook are the worst haha!

You have my sympathy for falling for it, I wish I could have warned you. Its not a guidebook at all. A dreadful rip-off and I'm sure its leaving a sour taste in the mouth of everyone who drops a fiver on one.

Thankfully, some other collections still do great little guidebooks.

Actually the Bartlet Society don't consider that to be a guidebook hence,why it isn't listed as guidebook on there guidebook master list for UK zoos!

It is from last year. I don't you why, but Leipzig is the last remainig german zoo prodcuing EVERY year a new guide. Maybe people really BUY it ?I guess, this year a snow leopard will throne the cover---or mabye...a Bilby ? I would like that:)

First polish guide in 2017. Wroclaw Zoo, but only Afrykarium. Other format than recent zoo guides, less information, more pictures.
 
Oh yes. I forgot to add that there are two language versions: polish and english.
 
Colchester now have a 2017 guide onsale - various animal photos in circles cover
 
Knowsley and Longleat both now have 2017 guides onsale - Knowsley's has a Tiger cover and Longleat's a Timber wolf
