More frog news from Australia.

Researchers from the Australian Museum have described two new Pobblebonk (Banjo Frog) species in the genus Limnodynastes. The first is a split from L.terraereginae, populations in Cape York retain their scientific name but have a new common name, (Superb Banjo Frog). Populations south of Cape York along much of Australia’s east coast retain the common name (Scarlet-sided Banjo Frog), and now have the new scientific name L.grayi.

Additionally a second new species was described now known as L.supercilaris (Coastal Banjo Frog), this was considered a subspecies of the Eastern Banjo Frog under the name L.dumerilii grayi but research has shown that it is closer related to L.terraereginae and L.grayi
