Maybe it would be better titled 'no news' as the centre report on Facebook that they were tricked by Panambi who wasn't pregnant for the third time. Hopefully some more babies in time for the warmer weather instead.!
maybe it was a fiendish ploy to take last years cubs down to their establishment in the south??? One for the conspiracy theorists there.
Good News from the centres Facebook page
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Panambi our female Giant Otter has had her 3rd litter of cubs. We do not disturb the family at this time only 2 keepers (Becca and Kirsty) go to check and feed them. Peace and quiet is vital for the survival of the cubs therefore as always we isolate the Giant Otters from our visitors until we feel the group can cope with visitors - usually in about 6 weeks from birth. We can see on camera 3 cubs at the moment. We will keep everyone informed of progress.
woo hoo they really seem to have cracked it don't they.
Chestnut Facebook Page said:Everyone at the Chestnut Centre is devastated at the loss of our 3 Giant otter cubs. They died at some point overnight at 4 days old. We know this happens but it is never easy for us to cope with. The cubs will have a post mortem to help us understand what happened.
