Bongos out of their paddock? Replaced with takin, goral, deer?

That was my other thought, but I couldn't think where the bongo might go to (unless they move into the West Zoo, or into the Buffalo enclosure? or leave the zoo?)

Not many options for moving the bongo, just right now. Maybe when the giraffes are moved thou?

I dont think the zoo would move the bongos out of the collection. Another possibility is a smaller species to join the Camels and Onagers, id love a duiker species to join the okapis though

Oh yeah, Persian goitered were mentioned ages ago.

I think goitred gazelles is a non-starter now.

Pse elaborate (is it blue-tongue and import restrictions)?

I feel the species would be a real asset to the exhibit. I would even advocate sending on the camels (which I do not think are that suited at all)!

I've heard noting official Jelle re goitred gazelles, it's just a guess made on the basis of the length of time since the importation was planned and rumours that some of the staff did not particularly want them. I hope I am wrong and that they do eventually come to Chester.

As far as I know the camels are staying and more will be coming to Chester.

Rhino moves

The rhino paddock nearest to when you enter the zoo is Rosie's, well it was this time last year, and I can't see them swapping Rosie and Quinto round. Quinto's paddock is the one nearest to Tsavo 1 (furthest away as you enter the zoo)

Perhaps, Quinto is being crate-trained ... (move outside Chester)? Will try to find out.

On a move in: youngish female Malindi (b. November 2005) will arrive in September 2008 from Magdeburg Zoo. :D

I'm sure a move will be on the cards for him soon, now the other two bulls are both proven, he really is surplus there.

I am working it over ...

For Chester, I recommend that Rosie be candidate for AI (as has happened with non-reproducing Kifaru at Hannover (cow Sani has been AI-ed by Madiba from Magdeburg). Possibilities exist now that the technique has been shown to work in the EEP black rhino!!! :D

News from 11th August 2008
An African Crested Porcupine is a recent arrival and can be seen in the Children's Farm area.

Suspect this may be temporary exhibit for the Porcupine as i think it will move to where the Lechwe were,as the area its in now i believe is going to be rebuilt as the new home for the Warty Pigs, also think the Otters are going to get 2 new enclosures 1 will be a single sexed group the other for a breeding pair these will be around the area of Realm of the Red Ape at the same time expect to see an enclosure been built for the Babirusa in this area.Which will free up the back of the Giraffe House possibly for the Bongos to move over their.

I'm thinking that AI is maybe the only way they will get Rosie in calf as she just doesn't won't mate normally it seems.- and she is genetically valuable as we know.

Have these other AI'd black rhinos produced calves yet?

Does that mean the new species you talk about will be going into what will be the old bongo enclosure?
Nope you would never see the things the enclosures to big,no i think the Bongo area is going to become part of a Chinese themed area.

Too big you say zoogiraffe?
So we are looking at a species of small deer or antelope?
