CERZA News from CERZA

@Onychorhynchus coronatus I don't like to rate too much because it depens of what you want exactly to evaluate. What I can say it's one of the best zoos in France in my opinion among la Vallée des Singes, Branféré, la Haute-Touche, Sainte-Croix, Zoodyssée, Sigean and Doué.

But I have to say that I was lucky enough to visit it before 2008 when the trees were still alive in the spectacled bears enclosure and it was just extraordinary  (the trip was worth it just for seeing the bears in the trees).

I see, yes, it is difficult to have a standard metric for evaluating, right ?

I thought it was a really beautiful little zoo with quite scenic surroundings, I saw Indian rhino, banteng, Roloway's monkey for the first time though it appears there have been new species that have arrived since which I would have loved to see like the ring tailed vontsira.

I remember watching the spectacled bears in that enclosure too but when I visited it was a couple of years after 2008 and I can't really remember any trees but I do remember quite a lot of climbing material for the animals which were making use of these.

Great births from CERZA : 3 Sudan cheetahs and a Sri Lankan leopard (the first for a while).
And a rhino birth is expected within two weeks (I suppose an indian rhino).

A white rhino calf was born on 11th June 2021 - I haven't got any details on mum and gender yet.

Well, it was not the 11th but the 1st of June 2021. The new rhino mum is Manzi, who arrived from South Lakes Safari Zoo in Juni 2018. And, it's a girl. :-)

Other information for next year : a new walkway will open to allow visitors to view some part of the zoo that were previously off-show.

The zoo receive 300.000 visitors this year :)

Près de Lisieux : plusieurs chantiers en cours au parc zoologique du Cerza

The new walkway will allow visitors to have better view of the three bear species. Good news : the spectacled bear exhibit has been enlarged and refurbished to increase the bears well being.
