Chesters are not even close from the pictures I have seen the female ,is bigger than Chesters male, but I will know for certain just how much bigger they are in a few weeks when I visit again.

Right have now seen the ones held at crocs, have to say the female is a bit smaller than Chesters male, but the male they have dwarfs chesters, also these 2 do not have lumps taken out of them, also unlike Chester the snouts are not bent and twisted, so if you want to see a proper looking False Gharial then pay this place a visit !

Could you put an realistic estimate to sizes for both male and female at Crocs?
 
Looking at the photos in the gallery, the 3 salties have been moved into the new croc house extension, so, are there any new occupants in their previous pool, the first on the right as you enter the house..?

Correct,but the salties old pool only has 1 new occupant,it is the other female Slender-snouted Croc that they were looking after for Colchester,that came back after it kicked off in there new pool at Colchester!
 
Ah, so is Colchester's Slender-snouted there as a temporary measure, or is she a permanent resident now.....?

She is stopping seeing as Colchester don't have a means of keeping them separate in the new enclosure,or the means of holding her offshow,not that Shaun is complaining as he is yet another species closer to holding all the known crocodilian species
 
Excellent! I'm hoping to pop down in the next couple of months. So that's Freshies, False Gharial (can't get used to calling them Tomistoma), and now Slender-snouted since my last visit.
 
Considering my photographs of Slender are terrible, and I have never seen Freshie, this bodes well for the next time I visit :)
 
An excellent arrival :D and one which will fit in very well at the collection.

It is worth noting that the United Kingdom seems to be gradually becoming *the* place to see this species, with six collections now holding Komodo Dragon - more than any other European country!

Visited a few weeks ago, and heard that the male False Gharial was measured at 3.6 m, which makes him just under 12 feet long! :eek: He was lying on the bottom of the pool all the time I was there, so didn't get a good look at him.

Couldn't get a good view of the Slender-snouted from Colchester either, as it was right up against the side of the exhibit, just as you enter the building. Couldn't see it properly from outside either. I took some photos, will put some in the gallery when I get chance.

The Freshies are very small. They are in the nursery section in the main building. Didn't realise how young they were.

Nice to hear they now have a Komodo. Does anyone know where is it housed?
 
From the pictures it looks like the Komodo has gone in the exhibit that housed the Malayan Water Monitor.

Do they have any plans to obtain a male and have a go at breeding them?
