Disney's Animal Kingdom® Park News from Disney's Animal Kingdom

Disney's Animal Kingdom has been so utterly stagnant when it comes to new exhibits with actual animals that probably at least 30% of every zoo nerd on this site wasn't even born when the park opened 26 years ago. The African and Asian zones were completed back then and now a quarter-century has flown by. I can't wait for Tropical Americas with its little pen of Capybaras and a few pinioned macaws. :(

I doubt the macaw’s would be pinioned. Last I read / visited the macaws are flighted and just usually hang out on their designated enclosure on the central island between shows. Usually. They can and do roam a bit. All it would probably take is building a new feeding area with a more interesting layout for them to move their usual home.

There seems little doubt that an expanded zoo component of DAK is very unlikely to ever happen, but in fairness they have a very good flighted macaw show by reputation and not the parrots on a stick of days gone by:

In preparation for the new Tropical Americas land that’s anticipated to open in 2027. (1.0) Marley the American Crocodile has been relocated to another facility; which at this time, Disney did not confirm as to where he was moved to.

His now-former habitat is completely drained of water, and all signage relating to his species was removed indefinitely.
Having a hard guess(timate...): Could it have been transferred to St. Augustine?
Or one of the many crocodile / herpfauna parks around Fla?

Are American crocodile not quite uncommon in US zoos to begin with and most facilities just in the Sunshine State of Florida?

Like I’ve said, no really knows as to where Marley went to; but I think if you look through the “Crocodiles in American Zoos” thread, you might find a partial answer.

From the Instagram page of Dr. Mark Penning, it was teased that (0.1) Sohni the Sumatran Tigress is expecting to be a mother again! As this time, it is unknown on when she will give birth; and how many cubs will be born in total.
As of this week, Sohni ended up giving birth to a single male cub named (1.0) Bakso! In the meantime, both he and his mother remain behind-the-scenes while the cub is still developing.

I live in upstate South Carolina, and I visit the zoos and aquariums in the region. Can anyone post a species list compiled from their visits?
I'm fairly new on this site and wasn't sure.

16-year-old male African Elephant named Tsavo has moved to the Reid Park Zoo in Arizona.
Log in to Facebook
A very important move and one that fills me with joy. I do hope Tsavo will start making an impact on Reid Zoo Park's herd in the not too distant future. According to the news he is settling in quite well, getting to know his new keepers and making first contact with the 5 cows at Tucson!
