Based on recent YouTube videos, there’s now a herd of Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra living in the first Savannah area in the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction.

Indeed and if you look at my posts you will see that one of my posts is of a Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra taken during the ride.

Hey guys I’m planning to head out to the park with my family on Tuesday so I’ll be able to get some updates posted on this forum soon FYI.

Updates from the park as of September 8,2020:
————————————————————————

1:
Cottontop tamarins have been off display since the park reopened due to Covid-19.

2:
Expedition Everest’s track is becoming noticeably rougher due to it’s age I suppose.

3:
A new building (possibly a prop) has been installed near the end of the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction’s exit.

That’s all there is for updates of the park from your acquaintance Austin the Sengi.

And also do you think replacing the park’s Naked mole rats with either Checkered Elephant shrews or Black and Rufous elephant shrews is a good idea?.

From a guest expectations and satisfaction standpoint, replacing a visible, active, interesting species that has at least some name recognition amongst guests and fully fits the theme of the area with an unknown, unavailable, skittish animal doesn't make the least bit of sense at all.

What about naked mole rats AND Elephant Shrews?

If there shouldn't be enough place in the "research station", then maybe at the covered Gorilla/Hippo area or somewhere within Harambe Village.

Shame they're not expecting any South-Central Black Rhinos, though.

As far as sengi go, there are no Checked in captivity and no Short-Eared in the US so I highly doubt they're replacing mole-rats with Black-and-Rufous.

Three rhinos are expecting at Disney Animal Kingdom. One this October and two in the fall of 2021

World Rhino Day Brings Big News for Disney’s Animal Kingdom
To be fair: It may be that F1 young female Lola is a first timer, but so incidentally is cow Jao - and she is a direct import from South Africa and not related to other white rhino in US zoos. As far as I know she has never bred before (not at Fort Worth, nor Indianapolis, nor at Lake Buena Vista)!!!

Better news than I realized then! Always good when new genetics can make it into a population.
