Help Name Beaver Kits at Drusillas Park Zoo - ZooBorns

How much I love beaver kits …! :)

Having said that: in any European country where one must yet get excited about European beaver re-introduction, I would welcome so much … that they have the same species on site (and might some day supply youngsters for local releases ..) and be a show case for bringing the species back from the brink at home!

I'm planning a visit in April - has anybody been recently idea what is on show etc anything a must see ?

"*New for 2017*

We are very excited to announce the arrival of GIANT ANTEATERS at Drusillas in 2017! Work is underway on a brand new exhibit, located next to the flamingos, ready for their arrival in the Spring.

Giant anteaters, a species never before seen at Drusillas Park in its 90 year history, are native to the tropical forests and grasslands of Central and South America. They have no teeth but their tongues can protrude over 60cm to sweep up the 35,000 ants and termites ...they consume each day...whoa!

The new arrivals are expected to join the zoo route by Easter - so keep you're eyes peeled! "

Giant anteaters really are filling up our wildlife collections, an unusual animal, more commonly seen can only be a good thing for the smaller collections.

Indeed, and a very good example of how a delicate species once deemed to have needs far too specialised for successful captive husbandry *can* establish itself given time, patience and careful work.
