Have the zoo had any breeding success since they first acquired the Macaronis?
They have had chicks before but i don't think any have survived. i am aware that it is hard to breed Macaronis and i know they have had issues with Macaronis that are not paired up disrupting the ones on the eggs which has led eggs to getting damaged and destroyed.

The zoo team have welcomed the arrival of two, newly hatched, endangered grey crowned crane chicks - as part of the European Breeding Programme for the species.
Given they are an endangered species with numbers still declining in the wild, this makes this breeding success story all the more special. We hope that the chicks (now almost four weeks old), can one day go onto other animal collections to continue breeding efforts. The floofy new arrivals can be seen with mum 'Fiona' and dad 'Frasier' at the African Aviary on the zoo.

With the arrival of five Humboldt penguin chicks, our first ever Macaroni penguin chick and two patas monkey births over the last few months alone - there certainly seems to be a bit of a baby boom in the zoo at the moment!

Sad news

It is with great sadness that we confirm our male red panda, Baika, passed away recently due to suspected heart disease.

Baika was eight and a half years old and arrived at Folly Farm in the summer of 2018 along with female ’Lotus’ who still resides with us in our Asian Adventure habitat. Being solitary animals by nature, red pandas are fairly shy animals.

Baika was an extremely sweet natured character who was very much loved by all the keepers.
Our thoughts are with them at this time.

Very sad to hear the news about Hugo this morning, he was such a stunning looking Lion and will be sadly missed.
