When the Morrison Foundation funds were accepted by the council in March, it was noted the first gift, for $130,000, will be used to upgrade the grizzly bear exhibit. It will add 260 feet of fence, a shelter house and a pond with running water. The bears will also get shade structures, a climbing wall and a zip line.

On January 15th, the zoo announced they have acquired a (1.0) green tree python named Dexter from the Amarillo Zoo in Texas. He is exhibited in the Raptor Center.

On March 6th, the zoo announced that their turkey vultures have moved to the former grivet monkey exhibit next to their African lions.

On March 18th, the zoo announced that their African leopard exhibit is closed as their leopard has a small sore on the side of his tail and the zoo is waiting for the wound to heal.

On April 5th, the zoo announced that it has acquired a (0.0.1) great-horned owl nestling, which the zoo hopes can be rehabilitated and released.

On May 6th, it was reported that the zoo had acquired a (0.1) pot-bellied pig named Pearl from an undisclosed facility and is living in the former wolf enclosure.

On June 17th, the zoo posted some updates including finishing installing shade structures for the public viewing area near the bison exhibit, as well as getting ready to do concrete work for the alligator house.

On July 16th, the zoo announced they have built a pathway to the binturong exhibit.

On August 5th, it was reported that concrete work for the alligator exhibit has been completed, and building the winter building will be completed by October.

On August 9th, the zoo announced that a (1.0) Virginia opossum named Bucky has passed away due to cancer in his spleen. He was 1 year old.

On August 12th, the zoo announced that work on the exterior of the alligator winter holdings have now been completed. The zoo also announced that they have redone the flooring in what used to be the Ed Shed, which is now used as an event center.

On March 10th, the zoo announced that because of avian influenza, they have now moved most of their birds inside, while other birds have received exhibit modifications for a lower chance of getting the disease.
