Linton Zoological Gardens News from Linton Zoo

Visited this afternoon and saw 2 Quoll active on separate occasions. This was the first time I've seen them active other than snack time.
They seem to be getting more comfortable with their new surroundings and one of them has taken to sleeping in the open, so even if not active, one might be visible!
 
Just back from a lunch time walk around Linton - The old toucan house now holds two pale-billed aracari (Not yet signed but I used zootierliste to compare to my poor camera phone photo so failry confirdent that's what they are). Baby tapir is doing OK, but was being chased by its brother. The white cheeked turaco chick is doing OK as well.

I also had a short visit to Linton this afternoon.

I too noticed that the recent tapir calf was being continuously chased by its older sibling. After a while its mother intervened and chased the older calf away whenever it approached the youngster.

I managed to glimpse two of the quolls but frustratingly, despite spending most of my visit standing by their exhibit, never saw them in a position that was suitable for photography.

(Incidentally, I was pleased to see a wild hare in the Hartmann's mountain zebra enclosure.)

I saw the calf being chased by big brother today, but only for a few minutes. The all settled down for feeding.
The Quolls were quite inactive, just about visible and just having a little scratch.
 
Had a great first visit to Linton today. Got to see one of the quoll. It was defiantly posing for me. I did manage to get a couple of pictures.
Also saw the tapir calf. I'm glad to say that they are no longer being chased by big brother.
The keeper also confirmed that mum is pregnant again, due Dec.
 
Now Linton is back open weekdays, I popped in during my lunch. One main thing of note - in the small house that contains the Victoria Crowned Pigeon enclosure, there are a pair of six banded armadillo! I almost didn't go in but am glad I did. I'm not sure where they've come from but will ask next time I'm there.

They came from Bristol
 
Linton have just posted of FB that their season ticket will now get you into a whole host of other zoos which hopefully someone who is not on their phone, or can copy and paste on their phone, will share. Looks an absolute bargain when the season ticket is a mere 35 quid.

This is great news for me ( already knew), especially as I visit nearly all these annually and I'm a Linton passholder ( which I visit at least once a month). I have only been to PWP so far so very pleased !
