It's finally been announced then! I haven't posted this until it was official!

A few new arrivals too, the first on show is a Bali Mynah, currently in with the crowned pigeon and blue - crowned laughing thrush

Also, though they've been on show for a couple of months, I've just realised that the Greater Hedgehog Tenrec haven't had a mention!

There are now a pair of Toco Toucan semi-offshow in the new aviary behind the yellow shouldered amazon's. Also further back on the fenced off path a new pair of pale billed aracari can sometimes be seen, they have been there for some time. Hopefully the new aviaries will be properly on show next year

Can't wait to see those new aviaries finally open to public viewing! They look very nice from afar. How are the other developments coming along?

Forgot to mention this previously, but there are now Brazilian Guinea Pig in the former Quoll exhibit

PLANS FOR OUR SNOW LEOPARD BREEDING FACILITY

We’ve been given the fantastic news by the European studbook holder that we now have a breeding recommendation for Centurio and Nefeli, our pair of snow leopards.

Being in the oldest section of the zoo their current enclosure is, like many of us, starting to look its age, so we want to provide them with a new modern breeding facility that will suit a growing family.

The cost for the project from start to finish is a whopping £175,000

A MAJOR FUND RAISING DRIVE IS NOW UNDERWAY!

Very short lifespan which is sad as they were a great addition to the collection.
Seems to be the cause of the species population decline in Europe... Such a shame!

£175,000 sounds reasonable and calculated - not 'whopping'.

Certainly for scale and compared to other developments built at the zoo in the past this is certainly a very significant build for the zoo. So I can completely understand their thinking!
Agreed. For a small zoo such as Linton, this is a huge investment (but a welcome one) :)
