Monde Sauvage News from Monde Sauvage

Two days ago, Nicole Kindekens-Renson (Monde Sauvage "former" owner) shared pictures on her Facebook profile: the deal is done, and the contract for the definitive sale of the park is signed. She's no longer the owner. Alexandre Dallemagne (via his company Sodaphi) is the new owner as expected in October.
All staff members will keep their jobs; we can already expect some new elements in 2024. In October, they mentioned an Asian Zone, considering all animals were already there. They have Red Panda, Binturongs, Gibbons, Orangutans,... on display and some species are kept backstage (i.e.: Nilgau)

The gibbons will get a new building on there existing island...

And the white wolves can enjoy their large exhibit. The old enclosure is integrated in a bigger cage-construction. The pathway is slightly adjusted through the woods for this. Thanks to this the wolves are next to the fossa's. They have also added a higher viewing point for the wolves, which is also a bonus for the American Bisons.

Are there any design plans for the Asian Zone?

There isn't a futureplan for the general public, in the park the information about new projects is very minimal.

Also a few smaller updates:
-The chimpisland has a new high wall around the zookeeper-entrace/ bridge.
-The tropical house at the entrance is for 50% closed/ empty.
-The Asian-safari is gone... the car-safari is fully focussed on African animals. But they have opened an extra (within the forest) zone to drive between bongo's.

A male Southern white rhinoceros has moved from Burgers' Zoo to Monde Sauvage. He sired 11 calves at Burgers' Zoo and they now intend to have him breed the females at Monde Sauvage, who are genetically important but have yet to produce any calves.

His name is Gilou (originally born and bred in Paris Zoo de Vincennes) and a proven bull. Both current wildborg cows at Monde Sauvage are nulliparous and aged 18 (Amelie, b. 2006) and 17 (Lucie, b. 2007).

Does anyone know if there are still secretary birds at Monde Sauvage. I am visiting today but I can't find them. I suspect they are no longer here?

Monde Sauvage has started the construction of a new African lion exhibit, which will be about 6,500 m² in size and will be viewable from both the walking route and the car safari. They expect to finish this project by Easter 2026.

Hi, just passing by to add some news:

According to a facebook post made 2 weeks ago, giraffes are not always in the safari because the hippo space is being remade. The website also got a new style.

Since it's been quite recent, the animals's part is quite empty for now.
