The obvious exchange would be with Chester for female, Komala (purely an educated guess)

An uneducated guess :D on my part: I suppose it will be either an adult wild-caught cow from Whipsnade that has failed to breed for several years with their current bull or female Sophie at West Midlands Safari in Bewdley (b. 2005 and not having bred to the current bull there). It is stated in the article that it is an exchange and the purpose is to breed directly.
 
The rhino is supposed to go to a drivethrough enclosure, so west midlands sounds like the best option....
 
Indian rhino Seto Paitala was sent to England this Monday, the zoo makes a big secret on her destination. I think she is now at West Midland Safari Park as rhino Sofie from there arrived at Nurnberg yesterday.
 
Tiergarten Nürnberg has been quite succesfull with Hyacinthine macaws. The first pair was obtained in 1996 and this pair raised 7 young. 2007 this pair raised their last young - a male - and in the same year one of the breeding-birds died and 2 years later also the other.
For the 2007-hatched male a female hatched at Tierpark Berlin in 2010 was obtained and the 2 birds were placed together in the old parrot-aviary in which his parents had been so succesfull. They started however to demolish this aviary and had to be placed in an other enclosure and so they ended up in a Lemur-enclosure.
Althrough still quite young they started this year a breeding-attemp and the chick born May 22 this year was raised sussesfully and will be hopefully the first in a long row still to come :).
 
Pelicans are doing quite well at Nurnberg this year :

Dalmatian pelican 1 chick
 
Indian Rhino, Sofie gave birth to her first calf on Wednesday afternoon (1st March)

An annual event and certainly a welcom boost to the Austrian release / reintroduction program. At the moment the population stands at 17 breeding pairs and a staggering 117 wild born and bred chicks have already hatched as per attached info. It will continue for a good few years untill the magical mark of 25-30 breeding pairs is reached (allowing for sustainable and natural growth).
