Tiergarten Schönbrunn News from Schonbrunn

Are these the first giant pandas born in Europe?

Defenitely not but, Vienna is the only zoo in europe who is"really"breeding giant pandas, using the only way, any animal should be bred-by natural mating. All other pandas born in europe are manufactured by A.I- and this is no great feat-it has nothing to do with"breeding". By the way-the giant panda isn't more hard to breed than a brown bear.;) Vienna Zoo has bred five giant pandas-three male single cubs and now twins.

I think you've said this before on the site and I didn't understand it then either. Are brown bears easy to breed? (I don't know actually)
Your tone suggests that breeding pandas is easy but then why are the other zoos with them not achieving this? There is huge motive for them to. Are you suggesting that Edinburgh (for example) is just incompetent or are there environmental/climate conditions involved?

EDIT: Rereading this my own tone is quite aggressive. That wasn't my intention I'm just surprised by your point.

1) Can you explain your reasoning behind this statement? I mean this as a genuine interest, not a criticism or counter.
2) Can you explain this also? I was under the impression that successful AI actually is a great feat, and is usually difficult to achieve. It might not be the case for giant pandas though, as I imagine they have gone through more AI research and testing than most species.

And thus the best breeding pair of pandas in Europe is broken...I wonder what´s next for pandas in Wien. New male? Or sending female with cubs back to China (after they mature ofc) and bringing in a whole new pair?
