Just to confirm, the kingfishers are still in with the duck (singular) and the labels are only on the hornbill aviary until maintenance get around to drilling some holes and putting the sign up on their actual enclosure.

The bat house was open again yesterday afternoon.

There is now screening up around the entire perimeter at the top by the rafters. Lots of new tree branches in there too. I thought it looked a little bare though as I couldn't see any new foliage, perhaps more will be added? There was still signs of work being carried out. As a result of the new screening, many more bats now roost in the trees rather than the rafters up at the back.

Cheetahs cubs and KT off show again after one of the cubs has surgery to mend a fractured ankle.

Right a few changes since my last visit to note on here, first off 1.2 Black Howlers now on-show in the Ruffed Lemur House, they arrived 1/2/2012 from Twycross Zoo.
Now for a few Reptile changes in the Realm of the Red Ape,the Green Tree Python have moved out and been replaced by the Mangrove Snake, and the Mangrove Snake exhibit now house's a pair of Doria's Angleheaded Lizard.
Also many of the fish have now been added into the tank in the Jaguar House, whilst i was first in the House I saw about 10 Turquoise Discus being added to the tank, also observed in the tank were Bristlenosed Plecs,Black Neon Tetra,Glowlight Tetra and Penguin Tetra,I'm sure I have forgotten a species in the tank as well.

Thanks for the update. This means we now have a tenth Black howler monkey holder in the UK.:D
Not a problem I always like to provide updates about something that isn't a Ape,Big Cat,Rhino or Elephant as everybody else covers these.

Yes it does mean yet another Black Howler holder, would have been far better if it was a Red Howler but the zoo had to start some where!

Yep certainly:p

Though I do like hearing about the big cats, rhinos etc I do like to take note of happenings around the zoo and always happy when updates are given.

Just remembered the Leatherjacket Mimic is now labelled in the same tank as the Snowflake Moray Eel's,but it has been moved into another Marine Tank further down in the Aquarium, but the Trigger Fish that it mimics is still in with the Morays.

Interesting developments, look forward to seeing them first hand :). Wasn't expecting the Doria's angleheaded lizard to go on-show.

As far as I know it was always planned to exhibit them.

Chester imported Bleeding Heart, Lemon and X-Ray tetras last year. I expect one of these is the one zoogiraffe can't remember.

It's nice to see a new Primate at the zoo.

Thanks for that it was the X-ray Tetra, but thats not say the others aren't in there given the size of the tank, but that was just what we could id for certain, but seeing as I have kept the other 2 types you mentioned in the past,I think I would have noticed if they were in the tank.

The Aardvark's are on show with the Meerkats from today :D (from Chester's facebook page)

That should look pretty good, I saw the tank with water in a couple of weeks back and was pretty impressed as it is a great feature in the Jaguar House. The glass (or is a type of plastic?) is very thick, about 5-6 inches I felt.

Am I right in assuming that the pair of Sloths will be living somewhere in the Jaguar House to keep the Andean theme going....?
