They also got the Marail guan, which is the first in Europe.
The only one in Europe presently, but not the first by any stretch of the imagination - not even the first in Germany.

Thank you so much!@Daniel Sörensen - some great photos in your Flickr album - can you tell me what the species is in #6580 and #6587?
Thanks for that - one I've never seen beforeThank you so much! That's a male swallow tanager.
I also did not see the rock pratincoles, and they were always visible last year (but they were still signed though).
Hello! They are still there, or, at least one! I visited on the 28th as well and I saw one of them in the ParadieshalleI hope they're still there, I'm hoping to see this species on my visit in 2 weeks. How many individuals do they (used to) have?
Also, do you have any insight in how long the JungleTrail will remain closed?
I could enter the Jungle Trail on both my visits on the 26th and 28th, so then it was not closed at least.
But on my visit on the 28th, I saw that they are renovating a part of Pukara and a tiny part is/was closed off in that building.

Visiting again on Friday the 1st of April.
Interesting, as the Weltvogelpark's website itself mentions the Jungle Trail being closed for renovations.
I really hope Pukara will be fully available on my visit considering the number of rare and cool species they keep in there. Would hate to miss out on any of the trogons (especially the Cuban) or manakins. What enclosures were closed off?
The mention about the Jungle Trail renovation has been removed, so that's one less thing to worry about.
The black-faced tanager is gonna be a new species for me, at least I'll be able to see it even if it is through mesh.
That is still the case! The male white-crowned is still on show in the Pukara (as of yesterday). He is located in the first aviary to the left when you enter the "sloth room". Kept together with Wompoo fruit doves, crested partridges, and 1,1 spangled cotinga. He is often sitting in the front of the aviary. Thanks! With help from ZTL and Zoofreunde, I think I got most of the species' locations figured out.
The only thing I'm still not sure about is wether the white-capped manakins (Pseudopipra pipra) are on show or not. A message on the Zoofreunde board mentions the other species all being moved to Pukara (Blue-backed, crimson-hooded, golden-headed and white-bearded) but it says nothing about the White-capped, which is actually one of 2 species I have yet to see (along with crimson-hooded). The white-capped was already in Pukara in 2021, so I'm hoping that's still the case.
A German news article from march states that the park will have a harpy on show again soon (by June at the latest). In the same article, you can also read that "new species of hummingbirds and various songbirds will also be on display."
It also says that the park is celebrating its 60th birthday this year and that they this summer (if I understood everything correctly) therefore will have a large aviary right by the entrance to the park - where they plan to switch out the species so it's not always the same, and it seems like at least some residents will be birds from the flight show. "A visit to the park starts with a direct experience".
The article also states that the park have more parrots, and gives the examples of Austral parrot and Cuban amazon, which are both on show right now.
Weltvogelpark Walsrode startet in die Saison 2022
Yeah, maybe we will get to see them later if there are any new hummingbirds. They also mention the hoopoes, but they aren't on show either.Interesting article. You basically got it right, they say the first inhabitants of the new aviary will be participants of the flight show, later they might switch in others. Cool to see that a harpy will come back. I'm just irritated that they mention new hummingbirds will be there when the park opens again, and according to your visits and all other sources, that's not the case.
Yep! It's still alive and on show in the fasanerieThank you for all the updates! The Horned Guan is still there?
