It took them some time with black rhino too, let's hope the the owl-faced guenon will also become a success at some point.
Actually several zoos (Antwerp, Mulhouse, Leipzig, possibly more as others started with multiple males and one female and unrelated males are probably kept separate or in bachelor groups) that breed them had pairs when breeding started.I wonder if Doué keeping 1.1 only is the issue. Based on current holdings, the zoos breeding them always keep at least three individuals.
Finally there were 5 young Mhorr gazelles bornedBirth of 0.3 Mhorr Gazelles this spring.
All these species are on show now with the following numbers :News for 2023 :
- 4 new species will arrive this spring in the african dry aviary : eurasian hoopoe, green woodhoopoe, snowy-crowned robin-chat and white headed buffalo- weaver.
With these new species, the small walkthrough aviary will be even better and a real highlight for zoo nerds !
