Two Bali starlings have hatched:

Rare white Bali starlings born in Polish zoo

The new chicks are the second set of Bali starlings to hatch at Gdańsk Zoo. Two young females that hatched there last year will soon be relocated to Cologne Zoo in Germany.

Recently 4 Greater flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus) hatched, this is the second time that this species has bred successfully at the zoo.

Recently this male moved to Negev Zoo in Israel, according to google this zoo has closed down in 2022... Does anyone have more information regarding this zoo?

Recently a male Scimitar-horned oryx (Oryx dammah) moved to Zagreb Zoo.

Around a week ago male red panda Ponzu escaped and climbed in a nearby tree, the fire department had to be called to get him out.

At the start of June a bactrian camel was born.

Recently a female Orange-winged amazon (Amazona amazonica) arrived from Zoo Aschersleben. Zoo Gdansk now has a pair of orange-winged amazons.

A few months ago a female Scimitar-horned oryx (Oryx dammah) left the zoo and recently a female arrived from Zoo Schmiding.
From Tierpark Berlin a female Barasingha (Rucervus duvaucelii) arrived, earlier this year 3 Barasinghas were born, a zoo first breeding for Gdansk.

Recently 2 Capybaras (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) were born.

A group of 4 rainbow lorikeets arrived from Brno zoo, I think this is new species for Gdansk.

Another new species is eclectus parrot - a pair came from Zoo Heidelberg.

Gdansk zoo´s attendance seems to grow nicely, they broke 600.000 few days ago - which means it grew by 20% compared to previous year.

Recently 2 male European lowland-bisons (Bison bonasus bonasus) were send to Lubin Zoo.
According to ZTL this is a new species for zoo Lubin.

The zoo intends to build a new enclosure for flamingos and pelicans. Architect companies can send offers till March. Planning period is 14 months thus construction won´t start earlier than in summer 2025.

The new pavilion will be 1500 m2. It should house various African water birds, fennec foxes and have visitor space. Aviary will cover area of 5000 m2 (1,24 acre) and with 18-22 meters hight.

The zoo already keeps 20 greater flamingos and 12 pelicans. Groups of both species would grow considerably in future. Other mentioned species: spoonbills, crowned cranes.

I find it great that several Polish zoos either built new nice flamingo exhibits or are planning to do it soon.

Thank goodness the flamingos and pelicans are getting an aviary instead of an open top enclosure. It would be great if the zoo plans on having feeding demonstrations for their pelicans to coax the birds (assuming they are not pinioned already) to fly within the aviary.

The zoo keeps greater white pelicans now, I have no idea if they are pinioned or not. But if the zoo decided to add pink-backed pelicans that like to perch and nest high on trees, visitors could then see them fly on regular basis.
