Newt Gingrich is one of us

I had the opportunity to listen to him speak at a small gathering at Zoo Boise a few years back. He is definitely very passionate about animals, conservation and zoos. As a child he actually petitioned the city council of Harrisburg, PA asking them to start a zoo.
 
Not sure what to make of this, I have to admit I find this very surprising. If somehow he wins, perhaps he'd help maintain funding for the NZP, though that would seem at odds with his political affiliation.
 
I've known about Newt Gingrich's love of zoos for a long time, but I had no idea that he had visited almost 100 American zoos. That is an impressive number and more than many folks on this website, but of course he has had the benefit of having travelled extensively for his entire political career. Perhaps he even lurks on this forum, chuckling to himself at the folks who have not been fortunate enough to have visited outstanding zoos in San Diego, Omaha, Columbus, Bronx, Saint Louis, etc.
 
A word of warning to supporters of US zoos that get funding from their city or state - he got very excited when he came to the UK some years ago and found out that London functions without any state subsidy.
 
the real question: What is his zoochat member name? I'm not Newt so who is it? I see this thread already has one member that uses 'USA' as location and another with 'Washington DC' :p
