On March 19th, it was reported that due to the blizzard back in January, the zoo is pushing back its opening date to April 30th and that work rebuilding/renovating exhibits will extend into the summertime. The new black-tailed prairie dog exhibit is finished though, and will open on opening day.

On April 16th, the zoo announced that due to construction on the large cats, Pallas' cat, and eagle exhibits, the Amur leopards, generic leopard, binturong, and Pallas' cats will be off-exhibit, while the snow leopards and the bald eagles will have some outdoor access throughout the year. The bobcats will be in the binturong exhibit for all of 2024.

On May 30th, the zoo announced they joined the AZA's Wildlife Confiscation Network, of which they are the only member facility in Illinois.

On June 17th, the zoo announced that a (0.1) African pygmy goat named Ms. Oreo passed away at age 15 1/2 due to a decline in health caused by cancer.

On July 19th, the zoo announced they demolished the outdoor bald eagle, Pallas cat, and cathouse exhibits to build new habitats. The zoo also announced they replaced damaged gutters around the property and installed a new durable iron frame for the roof on top of the guinea pig exhibit.

On July 31st, the zoo announced that 3 Nubian goats were born which are on exhibit.

On August 21st, the zoo announced they completed some more construction projects around the facility, including resetting exhibits with cement pads, repairing the gutters in the train station, replacing the lorikeet unit in the Animal Encounters area, and adding a new steel frame inside the guinea pig aviary.

On November 20th, it was reported that the zoo was given $400,000 by Rock Island County board members to help build new exhibits for big cats (the previous exhibits were damaged beyond repair from the snowstorms earlier in 2024).
