Nice to be here!

Hi all, I've already posted in the United States forum because I couldn't wait, but I guess I should introduce myself here.

My name is Taylor, well obviously, and I'm graduating high school this year. I'm planning to attend Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA next year to major in Wildlife Conservation and Management. I'm extremely interested in working in a zoo in the future, but I'll go wherever the wind takes me.

Sadly, the only zoos I've ever really visited since the age I actually cared are ZooAmerica in Hershey, PA and the National Zoo in D.C., which I love, and my family and I are now official Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) members. I job shadowed at ZooAmerica for a morning last fall, and I've worked a summer job at a local dog kennel and plan to go back this summer, so I think I'm pretty well prepared to do the dirty work as a zookeeper! In April I'll start volunteering at the Bird Refuge of York County, rehabilitating wild birds and working to release them. I'm pretty excited for that! I'll also be attending a Zookeeper Career Camp at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay this summer for a week.

Even though I've been glued to Animal Planet for my entire childhood, I guess I don't know much at all compared to everyone else on here--but I'm in it to learn!
