Noah's Ark Zoo Farm Noah's Ark Zoo Farm 2020

Good choice, pretty sure you've been hearing a lot about the Bristol double-up (triple ;)) option for a while now though... :p
Triple is easy, I've done all three by half 2 before ;)

I would hope they dont bring in a purebred Rothschild or any female for that matter seen as Kito is the hybrid.......

@Embu I am generally shocked that Kito is a hybrid!I’m not saying that you are wrong.I am sure both of his parents at Dudley were Purebred Rothschild Giraffes,or at least this is what Dudley stated. I guess that Dudley could have lied so they didn’t get bad publicity for breeding Hybrid Giraffes.

Well @Embu the saying is that you learn something new every day and I certainly have learned a new fact regarding Kito being a Hybrid.

@Embu I Don’t know if you agree with me. My view is that all captive Hybrid Giraffes within the European captive population male and female, should be spayed or neutered depending on their gender. Following this procedure I think Towers should be formed out of these neutered and spayed Hybrid Giraffes.I say this as I 100% think that Hybrid Giraffes should be kept separate from Purebred Rothschild Giraffes. It really annoys me when animal collections breed Hybrid animals of any species and not just Giraffes!

Kind regards The Hedgehog

Many zoos have species that are not pure-bred. Should they be sterilised, even though they are not part of a reintroduction programme?

I’ll just put in a few more words for Noah’s Ark:
*I don’t ‘do’ religion
*Noah’s Ark has some very good enclosures for birds of prey and Andean Bears, as well as the best elephant accommodation in the UK.
*I really enjoyed my first visit there, and will be back when circumstances permit.
*The only criticism I might make of the place is breeding hybrid giraffes, and a case has even been made for this not being a particularly bad thing.
*South Lakes under David Gill was going badly wrong, with inappropriate species mixes, dangerous walkthroughs, and maybe too many escapes. There is none of this about Noah’s Ark.

In a perfect world yes I'd like to see all hybrid giraffe split into single sex groups but in reality this isn't always possible. The number of hybrids has decreased over the years and there are only 2 places left in Britain that allow breeding to take place both of which have already been mentioned on here. Since 2005 48 hybrid giraffe have died and only 22 have been born. Majority of the remaining individuals are now in single sex groups.

George and Gus have both died. George died in 2017 and Gus died in 2018

Given their hybrid status, I have a feeling it was something of a Marius situation.....

You may have potentially hit the nail on the head here however that is quite a bold statement to make.
Especially seen as calf number 2 Geoffrey was moved abroad(im not accusing you of lying it just seems strange is all)

Making an educated guess at the situation, whether right or wrong, is by definition not a lie - it's making an educated guess at the situation :p

Hence "have a feeling it was" rather than "it was".
