Noah's Ark Zoo Farm Noah's Ark Zoo Farm 2022

So ooc, how heavy was the Christian messaging at the zoo? I've seen pictures here before where they try to refute evolution in a way that seems odd for a British place.
There's nothing unless you read the press releases by the cafe.

Does anyone know what species of giraffe their giraffe is? I know there was only 1 now but still curious

I think they had a pure Rothschild’s female, but only ever generic males? Not sure what’s left now….

So my understanding of this setup is;

0:1 Reticulated female called Genivieve(Gennie) breeding female who produced 4 sons, born 2007 died 2020
Since her death that left hybrid bull Kito- born 2014 Dudley zoo- and their last son Gilbert -born September 2019.

As previous posts have stated, it appears that Kito is the only giraffe left although I don't know what happened to Gilbert as I can't find any information so I'm guessing he died sometime within the last 12/18 months?
If Gilbert has died then Gennie only has 1 calf still alive.

Her first George(born 2012 died 2017)

3rd Gus(born 2017 died 2018).

The 2nd son Geoffrey(born 2014ish) apparently went abroad but no idea where?

Went to Noahs Ark recently to see the Andean Bears. Spoke to one of the keepers and she stated that the zoo is trying to get charity status and therefore this is one of the reasons religion is not being emphasised as hard as it was previously. Also, the owner has passed the running of the zoo over to his son.

Was there still only one giraffe?

Did you see much of the cubs? I wanted to go see them again, but I'm not attracted to the place otherwise.
Got a very good view of both cubs who were dashing about their outdoor enclosure giving Madidi no chance to herself. Male was on show in the next enclosure watching them. This is the main reason for going to this zoo whilst in the area. Wouldn't travel a long way just to go but if you in the area its not too bad.

Some small news from Noah's Ark;

Poison dart frogs are now on display in a rather nice vivarium which is situated in the South America building. Viewing is largely from outside the house but there is also a smaller window inside. Species on display (there was no signage so we're relying on my powers of identification here) were Maranon Poison Frog and Dyeing Poison Frog.

The porcupine enclosure has been partly demolished and work is being carried out in the area. It may be a rebuild or the porcupines might have left the collection?

The silver pheasant aviary is also empty.

0:1 called Ella has recently arrived from South Lakes. So a hybrid bull and a Kordorfan(I believe) female. Another hybrid calf probably due in 2024
Just out of curiosity, why would they pair a hybrid with a normal giraffe? Unless they put one on contraception

Noah's Ark appear to be a law unto themselves, but why the studbook have allowed this is beyond me. Must be a reason though

Perhaps its just a companion and there is no plan to breed. Having a single Griaffe wasn't really ideal for a Giraffe, and maybe the one from South Lakes was not required by the EEP?

I don't know and would expect the reasons this has been done, has been for the right reasons. If I remember rightly Noah's Ark's house for the Giraffe would only hold a small herd, so perhaps there is no intention to breed and this is just a companion for the other one.
