Well at least the giraffe will no longer have an Anglo-nubian goat as a companion........

Any idea from where the zebras are being sourced- presumably from existing UK groups?

The male is from a private collection in the U.K don`t know where the females are coming from but will try to find out.Does anyone know if the Crocodile Monitor and the Red Tegu that they were suppose to be getting ever arrived?

Don't know about the crocodile, but whatever happened to the idea of a female Giraffe?

Yeah but that has been there ever since they first got the Giraffe.

Their website is a bit out of date then in terms of giraffe news:o

It says they plan to get him two females...

What with Tapirs arriving now, this place is getting bigger quite fast, I think... Watch out, Bristol, Clifton and West of England Zoogical Society.;)

The pair of Tapirs came from the same private collection the zebra did where they were known as Patrick and Patricia. He was born at Twycross in 1997. She was born at Southport in 2000. They arrived at Noah's Ark on Sunday 20th of this month.

The female is interesting as although 7 years old, still has spots and striping on her legs. She was the only female ever housed at Blackbrook (in effect she was the only Tapir to be kept at Blackbrook).

No. Nothing came of it unfortunately though they were seen mating on several occasions (and he has fatherd in the past). Its a shame they've gone after such a short time together in thir place of introduction.

No idea I'm afraid. Maybe to make her more personal to the staff.

The magnificent male Chapman's Zebra that went to Noah's Ark (perhaps the best looking one I've ever seen) has had his rather grand and apt name "Masai" changed to the ridiculous and demeaning (sorry to sound anthropomorphic - just my sersonal distast for labelling physically outstanding specimens with depreciating appellations) "Zebedee". Criminal.

Do you know where he came from. And where females will be sourced from too?

Noahs ArK Zoo Farm have now received the 2 expected female zebra, and also a group of ostrich. Has anyone managed to find out which collection the zebras originated from?

I'd be interested to know too. Did you know Whipsnade have a single Chapman's stallion- presumably the last of their old group- and he's now about 36 or 37 years old- yet still in superb condition. I wish they would send him away or bring in females for him, he has been solitary for many years now.

The birth of two zebras is to be captured on a BBC-run webcam. The zebras, Zoe and Zara are due to give birth this month. The webcam has been installed in the giraffe house and has already caused a stir with Gerald the resident giraffe. The BBC are now onto their third camera due to Gerald seeing the previous cameras as perfect licking posts! To follow the birth see BBC webcam.

I'm going to sound like a right pedant but Masai is probably not apt as Chapman's zebras are from southern Africa and the Maasai people are from eastern Africa. I agree with your sentiments though!
