I visited Noahs Ark yesterday, many changes have taken place since my last trip. I have uploaded some pictures to the gallery, im happy to answer any questions.

It looks as if its improved a bit from your photos but some of the place still looks as bad as it ever has,oh well will see for myself in a couple of weeks.

personally i like the collection, why dont you like it zoogiraffe?
Don`t like it think you`ve just made your biggest understatement on zoobeat,i have my reasons most of which will remain off this site so that i cannot get into trouble for any thing i may say about the **** hole.Lets just put it this way if you built a Giraffe House which for mangement of Giraffes was very good would you have the safety barrier for the upstairs viewing secured using a cable tie and a bit of rope, also it would be nice if the walls were straight because none of them are, they could have had a superb house if only they spent a bit more time and care in what they did,i have quiter a few friends that are Farmers and when they build something they have a that will do attitude which just about sums up Noahs for me so very close to been very good but just cannot make the final step.

I agree with some of your critcisms of noahs ark, if i had to some the place up i would have to say fantastic potential but a little rough around the edges!

Reveiw on the way guys!

i come from a religous background so im glad you didnt say all your comments zoogiraffe, and yes the collection has a great potential

Agreed, they don't seem to have any idea about any of their animals.
Their Lemur enclosure is bad, reptile house is pretty dire, the rhinos behind the very thin electric wire, giraffe kept alone with no apparent effort to get a female... List goes on.
Wonder what zoos are entrusting them with their tigers?
I wouldn't :S

I have not been there myself but from the reliable descriptions by other experienced members on here, it sounds typical of an enterprise which has grown from a farm, not a smaller wild animal collection. As such they do not have longterm experience with 'exotics', or with building 'quality' enclosures for them.

I was also going to comment on their religious zeal at the Farm which seems rather peculiar if you take yourselves as a zoo seriously. ;)

Animal welfare wise it is rather bizarre it has managed to enter BIAZA.

Did anyone know they have bred a Somali wild ass foal (1.2.1)?
Where did they get their animals from?

NEVER! They have got domestic donkeys probably but no wild ass sp.

I think they have got the animals from various sources, wherever they can. Their species list includes a pet/farm Labrador Dog...

Which was tied to a wall in a busy passage way with access to just a basket and a water bowl when I was there. With a big label above it suggesting its there quite a lot of the time.

Well if you click into ISIS under Equus asinus somalicus you might be in for a shock. If that tells you anything about the curator ....

That's horrid- the label part, and being tied up. A lot of farms still treat dogs very poorly.

heavens- so they decide the ancestors of their donkeys came from Somaliland? that is bizarre..

My reasons for not liking the place have nothing to do with Religion,as somebody who is a non-practising member of the Church of England who went to a Roman Catholic School and was taught religious education by a member of the Jewish faith, and have friends that are Muslims and Sikhs,i think i`m fairly tolerant of other peoples beliefs, but even i`ve got to admit that i think DARWIN has a far bettter point to make than Creationism. The problems i have with the place is how they look after and house some of the animals and how some of them have been aquired and finaly the ability of some of the staff.

i noticed when i was at noahs that they have added steel posts and cables to the rhino field aswell as the electric and sheep fence! Both times i have visited the rhinos have only had access to the house and yard.
